the garden is calling, the house wants dusting and the husband would love just a little more pampering ... and so ... after careful consideration jovita has decided to take a year's hiatus from flying. during her "break" jovita will still be travelling in europe and is available for a number of courses ... some of my most popular are listed below. in the meantime for those of you in the us, she is taking bookings for 2010 onwards, please don't hesitate to send an email to teachme @ peawink.com to schedule the class, lecture or topic that interests you!

using silk in quilts: tips, hints and inspiration

lecture traditional quilt patterns interpreted with new medium. silk is one of they most luxurious textures on the market, learn to use this ancient fiber in your quiltmaking. in this one-hour lecture, jovita will divulge all of her secrets, tips and hints for adding luscious silk and exquisite jacquard ribbons to traditional quilts. she will share her experiences and explain how to pre-wash, rotary cut and control ravelling. this lecture is truly hands on as jovita passes a number of samples through the aisles for you to touch and feel. jovita's methods do not require the use of fusibles or interfacings, so you'll be sure that each silk quilt you create will become a family heirloom as it survives the decades.

if you have been collecting silks or want to learn how to work with silk here is the perfect project. a stunning wallhanging, elegant, contemporary, classic - one or all describe it so well. finished size depends on the width of ribbon you choose and jovita will bring a fantastic variety.

english paper piecing

a fun, easy project that you can take anywhere, pick up for just a few minutes, set aside and never have to worry about losing your place. a little bit of preparation means you can leave home with just needle, thread and your "shapes" - making it easy to tote with you wherever you go: doctor's office, airplane, soccer games, etc.

... we're going to build them! many quilters get worried about y-seams or in-set seams, some of you avoid them altogether, but there's no reason to. they're not nearly so complicated as one imagines. with accurate cutting, a bit of understanding and a notion of pre-planning you'll be able to tackle this quilt with ease.
